Description
The book recounts Donna’s life beginning at age five, when she was forcibly taken from her Aboriginal family in the bush and sent to live with a white foster family in Newcastle, New South Wales. Separated from her siblings and cultural roots, she struggles with identity, belonging, and the profound sense of loss that comes from being removed from her community. Throughout, Donna reflects on memories of her early life, the challenges of growing up in a very different world, and the emotional pain and isolation that resulted from her removal.
